Here at Suffolk Axis we take pride on the atmosphere of our club. For over 30 years we are one of the few charities in Suffolk to accept any adult with a physical/sensory disability, our diversity is one of our greatest strengths. We have a wide range of age groups and professional backgrounds, and whether we are enjoying one of our regular trips or taking pleasure in each other’s company, laughing in an important aspect of our day.
Every session our members are greeted with a cup of tea, catch up with their friends, take part in the day’s activity, so what a great idea for encapsulating some of what we offer in the form of a sculpture and activity, hence our latest creation with the help of local artist Maggie Campbell.
Mid Suffolk Axis created a timeless sculpture designed and overseen by our resident artist, Maggie Campbell in 2018 and was unveiled by the Stowmarket Town Mayor Linda Baxter in 2019.
The teacup and saucer is symbolic as a welcome and greeting as each Axis Day Care Session starts with a smile from our staff and volunteers to greet members and welcome them with a cup of tea.
Axis members and volunteers from The Red Gables Gardening Group input brought together two groups in the community working in different spheres resulting in a permanent feature in the garden for all to enjoy.
The teacup and saucer represent the diversity of the Axis members and is symbolic as a welcome and greeting as each Axis Day Care Session starts with a smile and a cup of tea.
